Residential Dumpster Rental
Driveway-friendly roll-off containers for homeowners in Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan clearing garages, remodels, roofs, moves, estates and yards.
Service area
16 communities and one yard on Battle Creek's east side. Here is every place we cover, grouped by area, each with its own page on access, local character and what the town's own rules say about who may haul and containers in the street.

We run roll-off containers out of 923 E Michigan Ave on Battle Creek's east side, on the I-94 Business Loop, to every community below. Distance is the first thing that changes. Approx. road miles from the yard: central Battle Creek and Springfield 5, Marshall 10, Augusta 12, Climax 14, Bellevue 16, Galesburg 17, Athens and Richland 18, Union City 21, Albion 22, Tekonsha 23, Kalamazoo 27, Portage 30, Homer 32 and Vicksburg 34. Same-day or next-day is available when availability allows, and timing decides the rest. Neighborhoods and townships without their own page are often inside our run too.
The second thing that changes is the rules. In Battle Creek, anyone in the business of collecting, transporting or disposing of other people's refuse in the City needs a City licence from the City Clerk (Codified Ordinances § 1064.44). The City's exclusive contract covers residential refuse only (§ 1064.43), businesses must use a hauler licensed by the City (§ 1064.09), and every construction or demolition site must have enough containers for its loose debris, with loose refuse containerized at the end of each day (§ 1064.17). Several places around Battle Creek license haulers too: Springfield (§ 36-137) and Emmett Township, where our yard sits (§ 42-51), use the same model; Albion says "No person shall engage in the business of collection, transportation, disposal or recycling of refuse in the city without first obtaining a license" (§ 66-61) and wants the licensee's name and phone number on both sides of each truck in letters at least four inches high (§ 66-66); Galesburg requires a City licence to collect, transport or dispose of "refuse of any type" (§ 58-62); and Vicksburg licenses haulers of residential garbage (§ 389-18). Some places tie household trash to one hauler. Portage gives a single contractor the neighborhood pickup of household trash, bulk waste and yard waste at homes of one to three units (§ 58-35); Climax allows no one but the Village's contractor to collect refuse in the village except as its solid waste chapter provides (§ 26-20), while leaving construction waste with the owner or contractor (§ 26-23(a)); Augusta says "All residents who need garbage and/or recycling service, are required to use the waste hauler contracted by the village" (Ord. 188); Union City's contractor is the only one allowed to provide residential refuse service (§ 52.05); and Marshall's contract is exclusive for residential refuse (§ 50.05), on top of a City permit for any dumpster of 20 yards or more. In Portage and Marshall we check the City's rules before booking, and in Climax, Augusta and Union City we check the Village's rules before booking. In Homer, Athens and Tekonsha we found no rule online, and we check with the Village before booking. On the street, elsewhere the street rule is written down too: Kalamazoo needs a right-of-way permit "for things like placing a dumpster at the street", applied for at least 10 business days ahead; Portage bars putting "building and construction materials/equipment" on a street "unless written approval therefore is granted by the director of community development", with a bond or insurance filed first (§ 66-3(a)); Marshall wants a separate right-of-way permit for a dumpster in the City's right-of-way, whatever its size; Galesburg (§ 66-63) and Richland (§ 28-40) want a permit before materials occupy a street; Union City allows nothing on a street for more than 24 hours without Council approval (§ 91.01); and Bellevue wants trash containers kept covered and at least five feet back from the road (§ 109-9). MDOT requires a permit from anyone who wants to use state highway right-of-way for anything other than normal vehicle or pedestrian travel (it manages that right-of-way under Public Act 200 of 1969 and the Encroachment Act), so we keep containers out of the right-of-way of I-94, I-194, M-66, M-96, M-37, M-89, M-227 or the I-94 Business Loop. We are licensed & insured. Each city page quotes the section and gives the office to call. We would rather say it here than find out on delivery day.
The service area
The run splits three ways: Battle Creek and next door — Battle Creek, Springfield, Marshall, Augusta, Climax and Bellevue; Kalamazoo County — Galesburg, Richland, Kalamazoo, Portage and Vicksburg; and south and east — Albion, Homer, Tekonsha, Athens and Union City.
Battle Creek — with the yard on E Michigan Ave, just outside the City limits — plus Springfield, Marshall, Augusta, Climax and Bellevue, roughly 5 to 16 road miles out (approx.). Battle Creek and Springfield license refuse haulers (§§ 1064.44, 36-137) and want containers on construction sites. Marshall has an exclusive household-trash contract (§ 50.05) and a City dumpster permit at 20 yards and up, and Augusta (Ord. 188) and Climax (§ 26-20) tie household trash to the Village's contractor, so there we check the rules before booking. In Bellevue, containers stay covered and 5 feet back from the road (§ 109-9). Same-day or next-day when availability allows.
Galesburg, Richland, Kalamazoo, Portage and Vicksburg — roughly 17 to 34 road miles west of the yard (approx.). Galesburg (§ 58-62) and Vicksburg (§ 389-18) license haulers, Kalamazoo needs a right-of-way permit for a dumpster at the street, and Richland a Village permit to obstruct one (§ 28-33). Portage has a single contractor for 1 to 3 unit homes (§ 58-35), so there we check the City's rules before booking. Same-day or next-day when availability allows.
Albion, Homer, Tekonsha, Athens and Union City — roughly 18 to 32 road miles from the yard (approx.). Albion requires a City refuse-hauler licence (§ 66-61), and Union City has an exclusive household-trash contractor and a 24-hour street limit (§§ 52.05, 91.01), so there we check the Village's rules before booking. Homer, Athens and Tekonsha have no rule we could find online, so we check with each Village before booking. Same-day or next-day when availability allows.

Many of them, depending on where the trucks are and when you call — before midday gives you the best chance. The closest runs from the yard are central Battle Creek and Springfield, each approx. 5 road miles, and Marshall, approx. 10; the furthest are Portage, approx. 30, Homer, approx. 32, and Vicksburg, approx. 34. Where a town restricts who may haul or wants a permit, we check its rules before booking, which can take longer than a same-day window.
Call and ask — neighborhoods and townships near each community are often inside our run; they just do not have their own pages. Tell us the address and we will tell you which rules apply. The rules follow the city, village or township the property is in, not the mailing address.
Because in Michigan, licensing is local: EGLE does not license ordinary solid waste haulers, but Battle Creek, Springfield, Emmett Township, Albion and Galesburg license haulers, Vicksburg licenses haulers of residential garbage, and Portage, Climax, Augusta, Union City and Marshall tie household trash to one contractor. We state what each town says, and where it restricts hauling we check its rules before booking.
Delivery location is one of the things the price depends on, so the furthest communities can cost a little more — we say so up front.
To local disposal and recycling facilities. Whenever possible, materials such as metal, concrete and certain yard waste are separated for recycling. Michigan law says solid waste may go only to a licensed disposal area (MCL 324.11512(2)) and bans certain things from landfills, including more than a de minimis amount of yard waste (MCL 324.11514), so we ask what is going in before we quote.
