When same-day makes sense
Urgent cleanups, mostly. A storm can bring down tree limbs and damage a roof in an afternoon, and water-damaged materials have to come out fast. Demolition and renovation work turn up debris mid-project. A property has to be cleared before a sale or an inspection. Contractors use it for emergency work and tight deadlines; homeowners use it when a weekend project grows; businesses use it to get premises ready.
Same-day depends on availability, and we will not pretend otherwise. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but we do not promise night or Sunday drop-offs. Battle Creek keeps trucks of four tons or more on posted truck routes except for the direct run to and from a delivery, and bars parking them on a street unless they are being loaded or unloaded (§ 410.04, Uniform Traffic Code local Rules 501 and 814b(2)); refuse may be collected from homes in the City only between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. (§ 1064.55(k)). Keep the drop spot clear of vehicles and obstacles and mark it if you will not be home; once the dumpster arrives you can start loading right away. Two things same-day cannot promise. One is a street placement: On a Battle Creek street, the code bars placing any object in the street - which runs from property line to property line and takes in the lawn extension and the sidewalk - except temporary obstructions while things are moved to and from the property (§§ 1020.01, 1020.02(a)). The City's fee schedule lists right-of-way permits for lane and road closures and obstructions, and we found no City rule that names dumpsters. So the driveway comes first, and for a street spot we check the City's rules and the placement with you before booking. The other is a town that restricts who may haul or wants a permit first, such as Marshall, where any dumpster of 20 yards or more needs a City dumpster permit and the City allows up to 10 business days to decide. Does same-day cost more?
