Construction Dumpster Rental across Southwest Michigan
A job site does not make one kind of waste. Demolition comes out heavy — concrete, tile, brick, roofing — then framing and drywall come out light and bulky, then the finish phase is packaging and offcuts. We size each phase on its own: a 10 for small remodels, tight access and heavy debris, a 15 for bathroom or kitchen demo and roofing, a 20 for medium construction and renovation, a 30 for multi-room projects and framing debris, and a 40 for large builds, demolition and commercial sites. If the project needs more than one container, we schedule ongoing swap-outs.
Construction sites have their own rules in this area. Battle Creek (§ 1064.17), Springfield (§ 36-41) and Albion (§ 66-104) all require construction and demolition sites to have enough containers for their loose debris, and all three want loose refuse containerized at the end of each day. The Battle Creek permit guide covers the street questions.

Demolition, framing, roofing and finish
Our construction dumpsters take lumber, plywood and drywall; concrete, asphalt, stone and brick; roofing shingles and metal sheets; pallets, packaging and cardboard; tile, flooring and carpet; and scrap metal and fixtures. Heavy material goes in the smaller containers because of weight; framing scraps, lumber, drywall and packaging go in 20s, 30s and 40s. New home construction, renovations and additions, demolition, commercial builds, roofing and siding jobs, and landscaping and excavation all have a size.
Demolition is a state matter before it is a dumpster matter. EGLE runs the federal asbestos rule (NESHAP) in Michigan. "Residential dwellings containing four units or less under private control or ownership would not be subject to the NESHAP", but other regulated demolitions need notice through EGLE's MiEnviro Portal at least ten working days before work starts - even when no asbestos is present. Marshall also requires a City demolition permit (§ 150.122(A)). Hazardous materials, wet paint, fuel, solvents and asbestos never go in our roll-offs, and we ask what the building is before we quote a demo job. Whenever possible, metal, concrete, asphalt and cardboard are separated for recycling.
Job-site placement across Southwest Michigan
On a private lot we place where the driver can reach it and the crew can load it, on flat, solid ground with about 60 feet of clear approach and about 25 feet of clearance overhead, and we coordinate placement with your site manager. In Battle Creek, anyone in the business of collecting, transporting or disposing of other people's refuse in the City needs a City licence from the City Clerk (Codified Ordinances § 1064.44). The City's exclusive contract covers residential refuse only (§ 1064.43), businesses must use a hauler licensed by the City (§ 1064.09), and every construction or demolition site must have enough containers for its loose debris, with loose refuse containerized at the end of each day (§ 1064.17). On a Battle Creek street, the code bars placing any object in the street - which runs from property line to property line and takes in the lawn extension and the sidewalk - except temporary obstructions while things are moved to and from the property (§§ 1020.01, 1020.02(a)). The City's fee schedule lists right-of-way permits for lane and road closures and obstructions, and we found no City rule that names dumpsters. So the driveway comes first, and for a street spot we check the City's rules and the placement with you before booking. MDOT requires a permit from anyone who wants to use state highway right-of-way for anything other than normal vehicle or pedestrian travel (it manages that right-of-way under Public Act 200 of 1969 and the Encroachment Act), so we keep containers out of the right-of-way of I-94, I-194, M-66, M-96, M-37, M-89, M-227 or the I-94 Business Loop. On the road, Michigan law requires every vehicle to be built or loaded so its contents cannot drop, sift, leak, blow off or otherwise escape, and a load that is not completely enclosed has to be covered or fastened down (MCL 257.720).

Construction dumpster rental — the local specifics
Several codes write construction waste into the rules. Battle Creek wants construction waste removed to an approved disposal area within a reasonable time after the work is done (§ 1064.08). Springfield says it must be removed "within 30 days after the completion of such construction work" (§ 36-32), Albion says "all construction waste shall be removed from premises containing dwellings or dwelling units within 30 days" (§ 66-143), and Climax gives the owner or contractor 30 days after construction ends to take it to a state-approved disposal area (§ 26-23(a)). In Marshall, any dumpster of 20 yards or more needs a City dumpster permit, and a separate right-of-way permit if it sits in the City's right-of-way. Who may haul from the site depends on the town: Several places around Battle Creek license haulers too: Springfield (§ 36-137) and Emmett Township, where our yard sits (§ 42-51), use the same model; Albion says "No person shall engage in the business of collection, transportation, disposal or recycling of refuse in the city without first obtaining a license" (§ 66-61) and wants the licensee's name and phone number on both sides of each truck in letters at least four inches high (§ 66-66); Galesburg requires a City licence to collect, transport or dispose of "refuse of any type" (§ 58-62); and Vicksburg licenses haulers of residential garbage (§ 389-18). Every city page quotes the section.

Construction Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Not covered here? Call (269) 292-6313 and ask.
Do you do swap-outs?
Yes. Once the container is full we haul it and rotate in an empty one, and long-term construction sites can set up ongoing swap-outs from the start.
Can I mix concrete with other debris?
You can, but it costs you. Concrete fills the weight allowance long before the box looks full, so heavy materials go in the smaller containers and may need separate pricing when mixed. A 10 for rubble alongside a bigger box for the rest is usually the cheaper plan.
Can you deliver to a site with no address yet?
Yes — give us the nearest cross streets and a site contact, and we coordinate delivery timing and placement with you or the site manager before the truck goes out.
Do I need a permit for a container on a job site?
On the lot itself, the town's construction-site rules are what usually apply — Battle Creek, Springfield and Albion each require containers on construction sites. In Marshall, any dumpster of 20 yards or more needs a City dumpster permit wherever it sits. In a street, Kalamazoo needs a right-of-way permit and Portage needs written approval (§ 66-3(a)). A demolition other than a privately owned home of four or fewer units brings EGLE's ten-working-day notice. We flag all of it when you book.
Who is allowed to haul construction debris in my town?
It depends on the town. Battle Creek, Springfield and Albion require a City hauler licence; Galesburg licenses haulers of refuse of any type; Climax leaves construction waste with the owner or contractor (§ 26-23(a)); and Portage defines construction and demolition waste separately from the household trash its contractor collects (§ 58-35). Where a town restricts hauling, we check the City's or the Village's rules before booking.
