The job decides the number. What we can show you is what goes into that number and what moves it, so the flat-rate quote you get on the phone makes sense.

We do not publish a price list. Your price is a flat-rate quote on the phone, depending on size, debris, location and rental length. We offer flat-rate pricing whenever possible: your quote can include delivery, pickup and disposal with no hidden fees, and no hidden fuel surcharges or surprise fees. What we quote is what you pay, based on the agreed terms.
We quote by phone because the things that decide the number, what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs, change from job to job. A 15 yard of carpet in Springfield and a 10 yard of broken patio in Marshall are different jobs at the scale and on the road. Call (269) 292-6313 with the address and the material for a flat quote. We accept major credit and debit cards, and payment is typically collected when your booking is confirmed, to secure your delivery date.
A flat-rate quote can include delivery and pickup, disposal up to your included weight allowance, the standard rental period of 3 to 7 days with the days confirmed in your quote, and placement guidance. That is the whole job for most customers. The rest of this guide is about the few things that can change it, and how to keep them from changing it.
The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal. Michigan law says a person shall not dispose of solid waste at a disposal area unless that disposal area is licensed (MCL 324.11512(2)), and some materials may not go to a landfill at all (MCL 324.11514). A clean load of concrete and a mixed cleanout load are different loads at the facility. We work with local disposal and recycling facilities whenever possible, and materials such as metal, concrete and certain yard waste may be separated for recycling.
Size and weight. Each dumpster includes a standard weight allowance based on size: commonly 1–2 tons on a 10 yard, 2–3 on a 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40, depending on debris. If debris exceeds that amount, the container may be weighed and overage fees may apply. Tile, plaster, concrete, dirt, brick and shingles use the allowance up fast, so for heavy loads we often recommend a smaller dumpster.
Debris type. Heavy materials like dirt or concrete may need separate pricing when mixed with other debris. Yard waste is best as its own load, because Michigan bans more than a small amount of yard waste from landfills (MCL 324.11514(1)(d)).
Days. The standard rental period is 3 to 7 days, and your quote confirms the days. Need longer? Call us; we can often extend your rental and explain any added daily or weekly fee. Finished early? Call and we will arrange an early pickup.
Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote. Our yard is on E Michigan Ave on Battle Creek's east side, and approx. road miles from it are: Battle Creek and Springfield 5, Marshall 10, Augusta 12, Climax 14, Bellevue 16, Galesburg 17, Richland and Athens 18, Union City 21, Albion 22, Tekonsha 23, Kalamazoo 27, Portage 30, Homer 32 and Vicksburg 34. Approximate figures, but they explain why the longer runs can cost a little more.
Extra service. Additional pickups, swap-outs of a full box for an empty one, and a step up to a bigger size are all priced as part of the quote.
Some items cause trouble at the gate. Michigan says certain items may not be delivered to a landfill: used oil, lead-acid batteries and asbestos waste (unless the landfill meets the federal asbestos rule), plus more than a de minimis amount of whole tires, yard waste or used beverage containers (MCL 324.11514). "De minimis" means a small amount incidentally mixed in with other waste (MCL 324.11503(1)). Appliances that still hold refrigerant are refused unless properly handled. So an old car battery or a set of tires tossed in at the end can cost more than it is worth.
Keep these out, along with the rest of our no list: paint, solvents and oils, fuel and other hazardous liquids, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, gas cylinders, propane tanks and other pressurized tanks, medical waste and asbestos. The what-goes-in guide says where each one goes instead.
For a small job, a city program or a drop-off may do. For anything bigger, the limits add up:
| Option | What it takes | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Creek curbside trash and bulk | Weekly trash for single-family homes in the City | Bulk does not accept construction and demolition materials, tires or roof shingles |
| Brice Pit, 715 West River Road (City compost site) | Leaves, grass, brush and tree limbs | Free to City of Battle Creek residents only; no stumps, no construction materials, no commercial or contractor dumping |
| Marshall Compost Center, 619 Homer Road | Yard waste from Marshall and surrounding township residents; 49068 contractors by punch card | No construction materials, stumps or concrete; seasonal hours |
| Kalamazoo bulk trash pickup | Four free curbside pickups a year for City households | Up to 7.5 cubic yards; no rocks, concrete or construction and renovation materials |
| Marshall bulk day, May 15, 2027 | One-day City bulk pickup | 3 cubic yard limit; no demolition material, drywall, concrete, plaster or shingles |
| Calhoun County household hazardous waste day | County residents, once a year (14 September in 2026, at the Fairgrounds in Marshall) | No trash, tires, yard waste, construction waste, appliances or business waste |
Every do-it-yourself trip is a secured load too: Michigan law says no vehicle may be driven on a highway unless it is loaded so its contents cannot drop, sift, leak, blow off or escape (MCL 257.720(1)), and an open load must be covered or tied down (MCL 257.720(3)). Add the drive, the gate hours and the trips, and past a handful of pickup loads one roll-off usually wins on money and on weekends.
None of these change our flat rate, but they can add time or cost to a job. In Marshall, any dumpster of 20 yards or more needs the City's dumpster permit, and a spot in the City right-of-way needs a separate right-of-way permit; check the current fees with the City. In Kalamazoo, a dumpster at the street needs a right-of-way permit, applied for at least 10 business days ahead. In Portage, a container on a street needs written approval plus a bond or insurance (§ 66-3(a)). In Galesburg, occupying a street needs a permit, a cash deposit and insurance (§ 66-63). In Battle Creek, the City's fee schedule has a right-of-way line for obstructions but does not name dumpsters, so we check the City's rules and the placement with you before booking.
One more on bigger jobs. EGLE says demolition is subject to its asbestos notification requirement even for facilities with no asbestos, with notice entered at least ten working days before the work starts, while residential dwellings of four units or less under private ownership are not subject to the federal asbestos rule. Disposal rules can still apply to a home, so ask before anything suspect goes in the box.
For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box rather than the labor. For a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal service may suit you better: large cleanout projects are priced on volume, debris type and logistics. Call (269) 292-6313 — the phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In many areas around Battle Creek we offer same-day or next-day delivery depending on availability; call early in the day for the best chance of same-day service.

It depends on the dumpster size, the type of debris, the delivery location and the rental duration. We give a flat-rate quote on the phone, which can include delivery, pickup and disposal, with no hidden fees. Call with the address and the material.
Delivery and pickup, disposal up to your included weight allowance, and the standard rental period of 3 to 7 days. Going over the weight allowance, keeping the box longer, or extra pickups and swap-outs are what can add to it.
No. Our quotes carry no hidden fuel surcharges or surprise fees. What we quote is what you pay, unless the job changes, such as going over the weight allowance or adding days.
Delivery location is part of the quote, so the longer runs can cost a little more: Kalamazoo is approx. 27 road miles from our yard, Portage approx. 30 and Vicksburg approx. 34. Local permit rules also change from town to town.
